Fighting Stress in the AM

Health Tip Of The Day: Fight Stress First Thing

Stress got you down? Exercise can help. Working out has been shown to combat stress at any time of the day, but to prevent stress from wearing away your workout resolve, try to schedule your walks or gym visits for first thing in the morning. By setting aside time before your daily routine kicks off, you'll be exercising before your stress reaches its highest point, ensuring that you perform your best. If you can't rearrange your schedule, just add five minutes to your usual warm up so that you ease out of your stressed mindset and into your workout with a clear head.

Have you ever wanted to find a way to bring your family and friends together for a fun day of Fitness? I can't explain the feelings I had when I realized we were surrounded by "Happy People" Did you ever notice how Happy People are easily motivated...It dawned on me how Happiness is our birthright- no one can take it away from you and no one can give it to you.  I am going to suggest you rally your family and friends and bring them together for a unique, fun and healthy adventure! -You won't be sorry!
Don't put off your happiness another Day!

ABOUT US

The Color Run™, also known as the Happiest 5k on the Planet, is a unique paint race that celebrates healthiness, happiness, individuality, and giving back to the community.
Less about your 10-minute-mile and more about having the time of your life, The Color Run is a five-kilometer, un-timed race in which thousands of participants are doused from head to toe in different colors at each kilometer. The fun continues at the finish line with a gigantic “Color Festival,” using more colored powder to create happiness and lasting memories, not to mention millions of vivid color combinations. Trust us, this is the best post-5k party on the planet!
With only two rules, the idea is easy to follow:
  1. Wear white at the starting line
  2. Finish plastered in color
Now the single largest event series in the nation, The Color Run is exploding since our debut event in January of 2012 and will grow from over 50 events and 600,000 participants in 2012, to over 100 events and over a million participants in 2013. Click here to join the party.
Be Healthy. Be Happy. Be You.

Healthiness

While The Color Run event is all about fun and positive energy, the 5k also focuses on promoting healthy living. Over 60% of Color Runners are first-time 5k runners and the event is making headway on the growing national focus of improving health and wellness.
In October, The Color Run event was featured on Nickelodeon’s Worldwide Day of Play, an initiative to motivate youth to get out and be active. The segment showed how kids celebrated around the country, featuring Nickelodeon stars and celebrities, including the First Lady. The Color Run event was a major highlight of the segment, and showed kids’ participation and thoughts on the 5k.
One child comments, “I play because it’s healthy and fun; especially when you’re running through color!”
Another remarked, “I’ve never run before, but I’m excited about The Color Run because we get to get color splashed on us and its so much fun.”

Happiness

“We call The Color Run the ‘Happiest 5K on the Planet’ because our events bring together friends and family in a unique, healthy, and fun environment,” said Travis Snyder, founder of The Color Run.
And after hundreds of thousands of participants have crossed the finish line – the name has stuck.

Over 60% of Color Runners are first-time 5k runners and participate as a celebration and capstone of their healthy living accomplishments. Others participate to honor loved ones who have passed or are fighting diseases. More run for love, and The Color Run event has sparked approximately 10 marriage proposals and one wedding.

Faithfully Fit: It's Resolution Go Time

With May right around the corner, ready to knock on our door, it’s time to ask……how are you doing with your New Year’s Resolutions? Have you been faithful and firm? Or faltering and flimsy?
If you haven’t been as faithful to your new fitness routine as you had hoped, take heart. You’re certainly not alone!  All too often many of us throw in the towel soon after we start something new. But today I’m here to share some helpful tips to strengthen your resolve and pump up your faithfulness!
First off, find something you love to do! This is the perfect time of year to try new activities. Get outside! Go for a hike, go for a swim, pull on some rollerblades, or pedal a bike! Do something new every day, to fight off the dreaded doldrums that routine exercise can bring. Shake things up and watch what happens.
Next, grab a buddy! By committing to another, you just doubled your chances of sticking with a “fit-full” new lifestyle! Whether it’s with a pal or a pet, partner up, and you’ll soon discover a whole new way of exercising—side by side, face to face—making new friends, or renewing an old one!
Third, make exercise a PRIORITY! Remember, YOU are just as important (in fact, far more important!) as any other meeting, appointment, or obligation on your calendar! You MUST take care of yourself, if you expect to take care of those you love and live with.
Another helpful tip….exercise first thing in the morning! Even if you’re tired and not fully awake, get up and get started. Stretch, yawn, move your body. Lunge, bend, and twist side to side. By the time you realize what your body is doing, you’ll be warmed up and ready to kick it into high gear! Half the battle will be won!
Finally, start tracking your progress. Push yourself today to do more push-ups than yesterday. Tomorrow do more sit-ups than you did today. Clip on a pedometer, and strive to walk more this week than you did last week. In fact, see how many steps it takes to reach some far-off, favorite destination from your own front door.  Dare yourself to beat old records. Set new goals and a deadline to achieve them. Before long, you’ll find your clothes fitting better and you feeling better. And when that happens, REWARD yourself for a job well done! But not with food. Instead, treat yourself to something good, something healthy, something long-awaited. Be faithful to your fitness goals, and soon you’ll be seeing and believing!!
Now go kick some ass!
